Peter Tessier: Victory from jaws of defeat Hayes is the hero as Jets get the vital extra point in OT.

How good did Kevin Hayes look last night in OT as he deked, ducked and dodged across the crease to beat Darling and give the Winnipeg Jets the extra point in their 4-3 OT win??????

He was so good that Darling wasn’t even the goaltender for the Blackhawks last night !!!!

I have always been a Buff fan but beating up on a kid that is nowhere near your weight class is pretty sad. Add on the fact that he just returned from a concussion and I lost a lot of respect for Buff. It wasn't so much the fact that they engaged but it was continuing to throw punches after he was being held by the refs.

As for Hayes in OT...if he can use his size and strength like that more often he will be a great add for the playoffs.

Agreed completely.
I was okay with it until he kept punching him when it was clear he wasn't fighting back or able to do so.
However as a whole...
I really wasn't impressed with the game the Jets played.
If they take that kind of game into the playoffs...good luck.
At least I sold my playoff tickets already

That 'kid' got what he deserved. He instigated by delivering a two hander to the ankle that kept Buff out of the lineup for the last 3 months. He knew what he was doing and should probably get reviewed for deliberate attempt to injure.

I wonder what excuse Maurice will use when he replaces Roslovic with Hendricks?

I thought the refs were absolutely terrible last night. They send the wrong Jet player to the penalty box twice. Even amateur refs at least get the correct player. Then there were at least a half dozen non-calls on what were very obvious penalties. Very perplexing.

Nashville vs Buffalo. Consider this a 95% sure win for Nashville. Buffalo has been abysmal of late. Even their fans were booing them off the ice last night. Hopefully, that lights a fire under them because nothing much else will. Hard to beleive they won 10 in a row at one point this season.

I'm pretty sure the Jets will need to win two games out of three because of one of St. Louis or Nashville probably will sweep the remaining games.

Yes, Buff should have murdered the guy for the hack to the ankles. League should review ...but won't . Buff was incensed in the penalty box as it was once again just another missed call by the refs.

I doubt any Jet will show up to play against Minnesota, so why have Hellebuyck try to save the team tonight? Let Comrie get the start, and keep Hellebuyck fresh for Colorado.

Read a tweet that the Jets have won 29% of the time when this officiating crew worked their games. Maybe NHL should look into this. Totally agree about the slash but how can you expect refs to see that when they cannot see penalties that happen against the Jets two feet away.

Anyway, big overtime win. This teams confidence seems to be at its lowest point over the last two years. The game was not a masterpiece but I think the OT win may give them the boost they need going into Minny.

I'm actually hoping that Helle gets the start - the Jets will show up tonight. They have a score to settle with Minny, now if they can beat Dubnyk.

The Jets can beat the Wild, rest Helle against Colorado and then play Helle against Arizona - if the game is important, and I'm pretty sure it will be. Anyways, that's the way I see it

I'm glad Buff pumped that guy. Takes a run at Buff and Buff puts him on his A$$ and then he gets up and two had slashes his bad ankle as hard as he can. Ef that. The Refs were terrible last night and clearly showed they were unwilling or unable to protect the Jets from numerous cheap shots away from the play. Enough was enough.

Better think twice before you step out of your weight class. Buff didn't start that fight, but he sure ended it.

The team needed that. P.s. I'm glad you sold your playoff tickets too.

Looked like we had that one sealed up but another offside goal gets called back against us and then we failed to clear the puck 3 times with the goalie pulled. Everyone smelled the empty netter instead of first getting out of our zone.

I thought that was a better game by the Jets. Having Buff back helps. I wouldn't want him to get caught out there on a 3 on 3 just coming back from injury so it was fine that he was in the box.

Officiating terrible...... again. Great win for the team.

Our goalie has been awesome for the last 10 games or so. Even though the team has struggled, Helle has been turning in solid performances.

Glad to see someone woke Big Buf up. Too bad he couldn’t have had some more time to beat on this spineless Caligula after he two handed Buf. The weasel thought he was going to get away after two handing Buf but Buf pulled the kid back for a solid beating. Best part of the game!

Glad you sold your tickets! Too bad Buf didn’t have more time to beat on the little punk.

Cry Moar why don’t ya?

Caligula (frank)s with the bull, he gets the horns, period. It’s not like he didn’t know it was Buff, what did he expect? Everyone has a temper, Buff has been better at controlling it last few years but this one got him stoked up.

Take a lap.

Comrie in - Hellebuyck out. Guess Maurice disagrees with me. Then again, I don't have , what 1500, or whatever, coaching wins in the NHL.

How can I argue?

Jets tonight - 4-2! Expect the Jets to be dialed in!

“Was it a talk with alternate captain Mark Scheifele or was it all of that and more?”
Now, who can we get to talk to Shief about his 40% Corsi over the last 25 games? 🥺
I’m trying to stay positive heading into the playoffs but man, when I see we are bottom 5 in the entire NHL over the last 25 games in almost every measurable way it’s mighty hard. Here’s hoping🤞

Dumpster fire. The jets are 21-20 since janauary 1st. Yah I know once we get in the playoffs that anything can happen but all of the teams below us besides Nashville who are in the playoffs we have a losing record against.
While I’m hopeful, the reality is this team either turns it around or it’s a first round exit regardless who they play.

Comrie absolutely sucks. He let in four goals that Helle would have had and turned what should have been a close game into a blowout. Nothing more to say here.

I will second this post. The score did not reflect the game.

Going to see the Moose tonite. I am predicting now that Berdin will eventually surpass Comrie on the depth chart.

Not defending Comrie’s performance, but scoring more than one goal would have been a good idea also.

Dubynk made some fantastic saves as well but I tend to think that if your goalie is keeping you in the game your team will tend to work even harder, you might use different tactics, line deployments and combinations, etc. ie) in a 0-1 or 1-1 or even 1-2 game the Jets are a different team.

Of course Comrie wasn’t great but you know what, I’m glad!! It highlites the fact just how bad this team has been, how bad the coaching has been, how bad the lines have been (exception the 4th) and nothing will change until Maurice makes more changes than little and ehlers (which was an absolute joke of a move) .
If Maurice stays the course and puts this on his players expect the same results.
Split up 55&26
Put Niku in and take your pick of Bellieau, Chairot or Kulikov to come out, thy all worse players. Seriously, I could care less how tough Chairot is, if he makes more mistakes than Niku with less offensive he is not the better player.
Sorry, I tried to be positive.
